WELCOME TO THE SCOTT ARMS in Kingston, a pub with history, character, community and atmosphere.
A pub with arguably the best view over the majestic Purbeck countryside, taking in the stately Corfe Castle ruins and following the route of the steam railway right down to the Swanage beaches. A pub that’s as welcoming in the crazy, lazy, heat-hazy outdoors of Summer as it is in the fireplace-cosy, mulled warmth of Winter.
A pub that that serves tasty, wholesome, locally-sourced food throughout the year, either in the two roomy bars, the the large lounge area or outside. A pub that remembers that it’s a decent pint of real ale (locally-brewed or ‘guest’), a well-kept (and well-respected) cider, a robust and eclectic wine selection and a well-stocked range of spirits that keeps its discerning customers happy.
A pub that has perhaps four of the most relaxing, comfortable and decidedly desirable B&B rooms in Purbeck, complete with a breakfast to get anyone out of bed. A pub that, perhaps above all, manages to marry the traditional with the contemporary with reassuring ease.
Brothers Simon and Ian have been landlords at the Scott Arms since the spring of 2009, and today the pub is popular with locals, day-trippers and holiday-makers alike. Their youthful, professional approach, coupled with a knowing respect for the pub’s history, has created a friendly, relaxed and enjoyable experience for young and old alike.
Four stunning bed & breakfast rooms
WE KEEP OUR b&b accommodation to a very high standard and we are able to offer four double rooms above the pub all with ensuite facilities. Swyre Head, Chapmans Pool, Houns Tout and Arne all offer a spacious, comfortable and relaxing base from which to enjoy the wider Purbeck area (or just the delights of the pub, if you so desire).
Along with our delicious locally-sourced breakfasts and our prime location in the heart of the Purbeck landscape, we believe The Scott Arms is amongst the best places to spend a night (or two) in the area. And, of course, with one of the best views in Dorset across to Corfe Castle, it’s one of the best places to wake up in too!
The Scott Arms Food Menu
We offer a simple yet tasty menu of firm pub staples cooked fresh in our kitchens. We aim to use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible and keep your eye on our chalkboard for our occasional seasonal specials. Between June and September you can sit in our extensive pub garden and dine al fresco. During the autumn and winter you can cosy up and enjoy a delicious Sunday Roast in front of one of our three open fires.
During the summer there’s no need to book as we have an extensive pub garden with plenty of space. However, in the autumn and winter the pub can get very busy, especially on a Sunday, so we recommend that you book a table using our Contact Form.
Sunday Roasts back on the menu at the Scott Arms.
There’s no better way to end your autumn or winter walk in the woods than with one of our fresh-cooked Sunday Roast dinners (served from 12 noon until 6pm).
We offer Aberdeen Angus 28-Day Aged Topside, Pulled Purbeck Pork or Wild Mushroom and Lentil Wellington. All served with roasted potatoes, parsnips and carrots, cauliflower cheese, braised red cabbage, spring greens, carrot and swede mash, Yorkshire pudding and stockpot gravy.
We also have smaller plates for children and smaller appetites. Enjoy your meal with a glass of your favourite vino or a pint of our many draught ales or cider.
Our Sunday Roasts are always hugely popular so in order to avoid disappointment please use the Contact Form or email us on bookings@thescottarms.com to book your table.
